Box Hill Rangers Building A Football Community

Box Hill Rangers AFC is now more than a football club as it continues to grow and shape athletes. Established in 2015 as one of the founding clubs of the progressive Hills Football Association, the BH Rangers attracts players from outside its base, including The Gables, Nelson, Oakville, Annangrove, North Kellyville, and beyond.

“As interest in Box Hill Rangers continues to grow, the time is ripe for aspiring players to join the ranks,” president Barry Conomy said. “Whether you’re a budding talent or someone looking to rediscover the joy of the game, Box Hill Rangers welcomes you with open arms.”

The club, earlier known as Rangers AFC, is keen to foster a sense of unity and shared passion.

“Currently, the club calls Annangrove Park its temporary home while eagerly awaiting the development of football fields at Box Hill,” Barry said. “Despite the change in location, the essence of Box Hill Rangers remains unchanged – a family-focused football club with a mission to provide a fun and nurturing environment for players to learn and enjoy the beautiful game.”

According to Barry, what sets this club apart is not just its commitment to developing skilled players but also its dedication to building a tight-knit community around the love of football.

He said their team of passionate volunteers forms the backbone of the club, working hard to grow it and create an atmosphere where players of all ages can thrive.

The club caters to a wide range of players, from the youngest Under-5’s to the youth teams, up to the Men’s and Women’s All Age – Over 45’s teams.

The recent success of the inaugural Summer Sessions football academy also underlines the community’s enthusiasm. With as many as 180 registered participants aged between five and 13, the academy provided an opportunity for youngsters to hone their skills and develop a love for football that should last a lifetime.

Indeed, the BH Rangers stand as a testament to the spirit of teamwork and dedication that defines grassroots sports.

Registration is now open for the 2024 season for anyone who wants to be part of this thriving football community.

As Barry puts it so well: “Box Hill Rangers AFC isn’t just a football club; it’s a community where passion, camaraderie, and the love for the game converge. Join the ranks and be part of something special – where the spirit of football thrives in the heart of our local community.”
