Sydney Motocross Prodigy Ryder Madafiglio Revs Up For World Championships

Glenorie’s motocross prodigy Ryder Madafiglio is living the dream that many Australian youngsters yearn for in their sport.

The 11-year-old will make his Team Australia debut at the Junior Motocross World Championships in Czechia from July 3–5.

For the Northholm Grammar School student and his proud family, it underlines his hard work and dedication to make his dreams come true. In Czechia, Ryder will join an elite field of more than 200 riders from 40 countries.

DREAM COME TRUE

“I was so happy, and it really is a dream come true,” Ryder said. “I have never raced overseas, so this will be my first time.

“My goal is to podium and to enjoy the experience.”

Like many riders, Ryder wears his falls as a badge of courage, saying he just enjoys the thrill of his sport.

His amazing confidence and composure during competitions is down to his time on his Husqvarna. Ryder races for Raceline Husqvarna Australia, run by pro racer Todd Waters, who is proving an ideal mentor for the youngster.

“The most exciting thing about motocross is that feeling I get when I’m at the gates ready to race,” he smiled. “That feeling is the best feeling ever!”

LEADS THE CHAMPIONSHIP

Ryder is heading the Australian KTM Group MX65 Futures Championship, having ridden off with overall honours at the recent Appin round.

In NSW, the precocious youngster is leading the championship in the 65cc and 85cc categories, underlining this blossoming career.

“I started riding when I was four as my brother, Jamie, had just started racing, and I loved watching him,” Ryder said.  “I wanted to do it too, and he inspired me.

“This year we are focusing on four main events: NSW State titles, Nationals(Pro Mx), Australian Junior motocross titles and the FIM Junior Motocross World Championships.

“Once I get back from overseas, I have one more Pro Mx which is in Queensland and then in September, we will travel to Shepparton, Victoria, for the Australian Junior Motocross Championship.”

Ryder’s trip is sponsored by Raceline Husqvarna Australia, Tdub. M2R helmets, SKDA sticker kits and Fox Racing Australia.

‘INCREDIBLY PROUD OF RYDER’

“We are incredibly proud of Ryder and wish him every success as he represents Australia in this prestigious international event,” Northholm Grammar School said in a post.

Australian team manager Ross Beaton said he is excited about the opportunity to take the team to Jinín. “The track is clay-based and undulating, so it should be a great race track and provide some great racing for the boys,” he said.

The Australian squad: Seth Thomas, Blake Bohannon, Ryder Madafiglio, Hudson Francis, Jayce Stocker and Cooper Ford.
